The other two great features Ultimate Droid offers are an option to speed up the Market and the God Mode, which provides root access using any file explorer installed on the device. This is a great solution for the users who don’t have a Root Explorer, as it gives basically the same permissions but without any extra payment.
Ultimate Droid and CM7, being both AOSP based ROMs, have pretty much in common, like their speed – both of them being very fast. Both UD and CM7 run Cyanogen’s Kernel and can be set up to exactly the same look. This feature is supported by the fact that both these ROMs have the Theme Chooser app with pretty same options in settings. And this is the feature by which UD excels its rival, CM7, as it possesses a wider variety of options here.
One of the most fantastic features UD provides is that of hot reset, allowing for resetting your device at a third of the time it usually takes. Also, the reset starts from the boot animation, and not from traditional phone’s turning off, and begins with the splash screen. This feature is especially convenient for the kind of users who theme a lot with often need for resetting their devices in order to see the effect.

Among other options UD ROM offers there is: one to enable/disable camera sounds - the Dalvik-Cache clear; a most convenient one to shorten boot up time significantly - that of Bootanimation, as well as mount SD controls with the options of changing fonts as well as the Bootanimation – both without having to flash anything; the option of changing how much memory the default task manager can allot, and several more.
The one inconvenience may be the lockscreen with the branded “Ultimate Droid” across, with no option of turning it off.
High speed is the key characteristic of this ROM, with its other features being that of far less reboots and force quits than there are on CM7. This basically means that in terms of stability UD ROM is very reliable – a cause worthy to be sacrificed a little speed to in order to be achieved. The only way this ROM may let the user down is through its Wimax that is somewhat slower and the wifi range that to some users may seem unsatisfactory.
Overall, UD ROM is reliable, fast and good and is an excellent alternative to those who encounter problems with CM but would like to have it on their device anyway.
